Insulation

Insulation

A choice of five different HCFC-free and CFC-free materials, with zero ozone depletion potential, can be used with Alumasc Insulated Render Systems. Each insulant has key performance qualities, suited to different applications.

Insulation
Polystyrene/ FRA Grade EPS
Phenolic (K5 EWB)
Polyisocyanurate (PIR)
Mineral Wool
Cork

Polystyrene/ FRA Grade EPS
1. HCFC-free and CFC-free

2. The lightest of the listed insulants for a given thermal performance

3. Flame retardant and dimensionally stable

4. The Reaction to Fire Classification is Euroclass E

5. When specifying in an External Wall Insulation system BRE document BRE135 should be followed for positioning and specification of fire barriers

6. An economical and easy to handle product for all types of building

Phenolic (K5 EWB)
1. HCFC-free and CFC-free

2. High thermal performance, providing the best 'U' value for a given board thickness of the listed insulants

3. Class 0 (Surface Spread of Flame) Test rating for rigid phenolic insulation core to BS 476: part 7 1997

4. Not classified as non- combustible, but has enhanced fire performance so can be used without need for additional fire barriers

5. Permits a thin overcladding by comparison with other listed insulants.

6. Ideal for low rise social housing and architectural detailing.
